GOOGLE CONSOLE AVERAGE IMPRESSION
So are you confuse about Google Console Average Impression as a bug? Here is the answer to your confusion. According to Barry Schwartz ” It refers to a change of metric reporting in Google Search Analytic Tool. So the good news for you is: It is not a bug but a new feature.

According to Google this is an update is about measuring the metric you report in Google Search Console’s Search Analytic Report. Furthermore this update is specifically for search results in lower position. Moreover the news update was given by Google on 14th July on data anomalies page.
Furthermore the data anomalies page read is:
“An incremental improvement in Google logging system provides better accounting for results in lower positions. This change might cause increase in impressions, but also a decrease in average positions. This change only effects Search Console Reporting, not your actual performance on Google”
Many of the webmasters are experiencing changes in the Google Search Console Average like change in average position metric. Furthermore this change in Search Analytic has taken a sharp dive since 13th July. So all the Webmaster you do not have to worry about this. It is just an update by Google.
Furthermore many people thought of it as a bug. So its not a bug, it a change in feature of how Google measures data on lower positions.
Google is very much clear to say ” No actual changes have occurred around metric report”. So it is just how Google accounts for those lower positions in Search Analytic Tool.
Google search console is now in updating phase and they are still working on it. Lets wait and watch what comes next when they fully launch the news of new updates.
