Samsung has released the Samsung S8 with more protection and safety, the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active .They has been going through a rough patch since last year. Therefore, to make up to it’s recent mistakes, Samsung came big this time with what Samsung likes to call the “infinity screen” phone. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features a nearly bezel less screen. Long gone the oval home button alongside its partners “back “and “recent application” buttons.
Samsung wanted to bring a hand held phone comprising a big screen. That was only possible by increasing the screen-to-body ratio. They really achieved their benchmark and launched Galaxy S8 with 88% screen-to-body ratio compared to IPhone’s 68% ratio. It was released back this April along with Samsung Galaxy S8+ and received mixed reviews for having its pros as well as the cons. To keep up with their new trend, Samsung has launched Samsung Galaxy S8 Active on August 11 which is basically a stronger version of Galaxy S8 with some alterative features. With that in mind let’s take a look at what Samsung will be offering us with their summer launch.

This one is the reason for producing a separate model. Its body is thicker, heavier and larger than the Galaxy S8 itself. The body of the S8 Active is rugged and tough textured for safe grip. The display is protected by a shatter proof coating to absorb a drop of up to 5 ft. It is dust and water resistant (1.5 meters and 30 minutes). The big news is that it has the passed the military grade testing and is a MIL-STD-810G compliant which means it can resist a group of 21 specific conditions which includes water, extreme temperature, dust , low pressure and high altitude to given extent. It also has a metal frame and a bumper to protect it from shocks, tilts or abrasion.
Samsung surely snatched lot of fans by enhancing the battery to 4000mAh. Older Galaxy S8 and S8+ have a battery life of 3000 and 3500mAh. It will surely withstand a whole day with its users.
By far the only flat screen by Samsung this year. For the people who like the classics, this one is for you. Ditching the infinity screen, Samsung is trying to keep up with its words of introducing the strongest galaxy ever. Although most people liked the curved screen, I have to say if design is everything or you, then you should go for the original series.
Samsung galaxy S8 Active colors will be different from the earlier installments of the Active series. Samsung is going against the tradition of the camouflages and this time coming with the darker shades to keep it simple for their customers. It is offering Meteor grey and Titanium gold this season.
Return of the Bezels:
The bezels are back and operating. The only purpose is to cover the screen from outer environment. Though, the front buttons will not be seen just like Galaxy S8.
The only technical change from S8 is that it is offering Bluetooth 5.1 which will be obviously more reliable.
Samsung Galaxy S8 active has the same price as S8+ for 850$. Samsung Galaxy S8 Active release date is 11 Aug, 2017. Although, it can be pre-ordered exclusively by AT&T from 8 August for 28.34$ a month for 30 months or for the complete price of 850$.
Bixby Dedicated Button: There will be a dedicated button of the left side of the phone to activate Bixby without touching the screen which will help you in operating the phone and making thing simpler.
Active Lifestyle Feature:
The Bixby home screen in S8 active is a little different than the usual S8 screen. It will be offering an instant access to outdoor apps like Barometer, compass, flashlight, stopwatch for outdoor adventures. Galaxy S8 has these features but they are not aligned in a specific area like in S8 Active.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has great reviews. The cons are same as of Galaxy S8.
E.g. the back placed fingerprint sensor which causes smudges on the camera lens. Or the Face Recognition lock which has Error Galaxy S8 Active is phenomenal phone and up to the mark for 2017. But then again, it all depends on what type of user you are? What are you looking for in your new phone? If you are an adventure craver who accidently drops their phone every other day, or a hard working house wife with 5 toddlers running around you breaking delicate things. So it’s totally up to you to choose between the two giants of 2017, what is it going to be, Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8 Active?
